Basic skyrim alchemy recipes
Eating an ingredient always unlocks its first property, taking the Experimenter perk allows you to discover the rest of the properties when consumed, depending on the rank of the perk (see the perk table below). Potions with multiple effects can be created by mixing ingredients with more than one effect.Įach ingredient has a total of four effects. If their common property is useful (for example, restoring health), then you will create a potion, if it is negative (for example, damage to health), then you will get poison.
To create a potion or poison, you must combine two or more ingredients that have the same magical effects. Making potionsĪlchemy in Skyrim can only be practiced in specially designed and equipped places for this - alchemy labs (Alchemy Labs). Although you can see various potions for sale, knowledge of alchemy will provide you with the ability to create more powerful potions than purchased ones. With a deeper understanding of the properties of the ingredients, you will be able to brew potions that mimic the effects of many (though not all) magical spells and enchantments. In most cases, the most basic one will be enough - a potion to restore health, magic or stamina, and poisons will allow the weapon to deal more damage. This combo makes poisons of damage magicka regen, the 2nd most valuable alchemy effect after paralysis.Alchemy will be useful for a character of any bias. You should have encountered tons of blue mountain flower along the way. Go by dwemer ruins and Frostmere Crypt until you get to the Stone Hills mining community(massive butterfly spawn here, too). As you approach this area you should find some.įor more ingredients, keep heading east and north(possibly go by Fort Fellhammer instead of the other fort for less bandits to deal with) and when you hit the fork in the road approaching Dawnstar, head west again. These particular spawns seem to reset when you enter and exit the meadery.įor the flowers, head north past the farms and Whitewatch Tower until you hit the road heading east and west between Dawnstar and Windhelm. There are a couple butterfly spawns by Honningbrew Meadery and the nearby crossroads/bridges. Not counting special ingredients like Giant's Toe which are difficult to get in quantity, you can mix Blue Butterfly Wing and Blue Mountain Flower. Put those previous three ingredients together with the Toe, and you'll end up with a worthless potion/poison that has tremendous resale value. There's a list of locations in that linked article, or you can just kill giants, if you've got the levels for it. Giant's Toes boost the potion's profitability by a crazy amount. Now, for profit purposes, you'll want to throw a Giant's Toe into the mix. When shopping, look for Blisterwort as well, although be careful of side effects from various ingredient mixes - which ones are dangerous is left as an exercise to the reader. Don't forget to check the alchemy shops in Whiterun and other major towns, as there's plenty of these low-level ingredients on offer, and once you have some alchemy ranks you can easily profit by crafting them into potions. Mix these three things together, and you'll have a Restore Health potion. Butterfly Wing - these can also be found by catching the reddish/orange butterflies that flit about in the fields around Whiterun.
